Frequently Asked Questions

1What does my dog need to come to FP for boarding or Day Care?
Your first day care visit requires an advance appointment for a temperament test to ensure your dog plays well with other dogs. For both Overnight stays and Day Care, your dog is required to have a completed application, up-to-date rabies, DHLPP, and Bordatella (kennel cough) immunizations, a negative fecal test within 30 days of the first visit and a PA dog license issued by the county where you live. For details, refer to the Rules and Regulations.
2Do I need a reservation to board my dog?
Yes. You should always make a reservation for Overnight stays so that Fuzzy Paws can confirm availability. Please plan ahead as we fill up quickly, especially during holiday weeks and summer vacation months.
3Can I bring my dog to Day Care without a reservation?
Before coming the first time, you must make an appointment for your dog to have a temperament test. You must complete the application and provide the required veterinary records, unless you have already done so for an Overnight stay. Once your dog is temperament tested and registered for Day Care, you can bring your dog without a reservation.
4When I call and get voice mail, should I call back or leave a message?
Please leave a message and someone will call you back within 48 hours, most times much sooner. When we are caring for dogs or in the exercise yards, it is sometimes difficult to answer phones and take reservations or address questions. But we do return all calls.
5Can I tour your facility?
Yes. We have an open invitation for the public to tour Fuzzy Paws Tuesday through Thursday at 5:30 pm. No tour reservation is required. If this time doesn't suit you, we will accommodate your schedule and arrange another time. Just call and make an appointment. Tours are not available on Saturday or Sunday. Any changes to tour availability will be noted on our website.
6I noticed drop-off and pick-up is not available on major holidays. What holidays are included?
Fuzzy Paws is closed for drop-off and pick-up on New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
7Is Doggie Day Care available on the weekends?
No, our Day Care is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm. It is closed weekends, major holidays and generally the day before and after a major holiday.
8Do Day Care and Overnight dogs mix in the same play areas?
No. Day Care and Overnight dogs have different play areas.
9How many times do Overnight dogs go outside?
Our Overnight dogs are taken outside at least 8-10 times a day.
10Can I bring my dog’s own food?
Yes. In fact, you must bring your dog’s own food, as we do not provide it. It’s best for your dog’s digestive system if he or she is eating the food their system is used to digesting. Food can be purchased at Fuzzy Paw’s Pet Boutique, but it is best to use the food your dog is familiar with.
11Will my dog need a temperament test before boarding?
We will temperament test your dog once he or she arrives for boarding and place your pet in an appropriate play area.
12Can I bring bedding and cloth items from home?
No, we will provide a bed and blanket, as it reduces the risk of bringing in any germs, fleas or ticks. Our beds are stripped at least once a day and all blankets and other bedding are washed.
13What happens if you lose power?
We have a full back-up generator to keep your pet comfortable, safe and secure in the event of a power outage.
